Consecutive Language Translation – Interpretation Service For Business Meetings

Business is a language of its own but there are times when the people who speak it have their own words. Oftentimes, a glitch in the deal or production is a result of a misunderstanding or miscommunication. That is why businesses take every measure necessary to ensure they overcome language barrier. And during business meetings about crucial subjects, a company can be assured that they will do so by hiring consecutive language translation.

Consecutive language translation is not a word for word translation service, as many assume. Each language is unique; translating it is a complicated process. In any industry including business, there are terms that are uniquely called in one language but mean differently in another. A careful and thorough interpretation is needed to avoid misunderstandings.

Merely knowing another language isn’t enough, especially in business where sensitive information and complex details are involved. One has to specialize in the terminologies used and the nature of the subject to ensure accuracy.

Differences Of Simultaneous And Consecutive Language Translation

Language interpretation services are essential when there are participants in a group who don’t speak the same language as the others. Often in business gatherings, more than one interpreter is hired, depending on the format of the meeting and the number of languages needed to be translated.

There are two types of language interpretation in a business setting, consecutive interpretation is one of them. The other type is simultaneous interpretation, wherein interpreters do on-time translation service. They normally sit in a sound-proof booth to listen to the speaker using their headsets and interpret the speech for the clients.

Simultaneous interpretation is ideally done during large gatherings, such as conference and seminar because this promotes spontaneous reaction among the participants.

As for consecutive, the process is deemed longer but with more accurate results. In this type, the interpreter will sit beside the client to translate what the speaker says once the latter pauses in his speech. If the client wants to say something, the interpreter will then translate it for the others to understand.

While it takes longer time, consecutive language translation is deemed more accurate. It is ideal during small business meetings, where the parties usually talk back and forth.
